Encoding Equity in Clinical Research & Practice invites you to engage with us as an Alliance leader! We are now accepting applications for Alliance leadership groups, including Task Forces and Workgroups.

The Encoding Equity Alliance is committed to driving change in clinical research and practice, identifying inappropriate use of race in algorithms and guidelines, redesigning more accurate and equitable decision tools, and collecting and communicating evidence to advance health equity.

We are looking for passionate volunteers who want to drive change and usher in a new era in health equity. The time for action is now, and we need individuals and organizations across diverse communities to help us catalyze change.

  • Role Details

    Advisory Committee Member
    • Serve a 2-year renewable term
    • Review and refine project short and long-term goals
    • Provide strategic advice and guidance to ensure project activities align to project goals
    • Engage key stakeholders to build support for and participation in the Alliance
    • Provide insights on potential partnership opportunities and collaboration strategies
    • Review and provide feedback on publications and other materials
    • Provide guidance on annual convenings
    • Assist with establishing goals and selection criteria for grant program
    • Evaluate submitted grant proposals and provide selection recommendations
    • Facilitate coordination and knowledge sharing among task forces and workgroups
    • Help lead learning collaborative and other Alliance events
    • Advise on the dissemination of findings and best practices
    • Participation includes:
    – One in-person meeting in Fall 2024 (all day)
    –  Attendance at Alliance convenings whenever possible
    – Monthly or bi-monthly virtual meetings
    – Asynchronous contributions as outlined above
    – Reimbursement for travel to Advisory Committee meetings will be provided

    Task Forces Member Role
    • Serve a 2-year renewable term
    • Provide content focus expertise and strategic guidance to the Alliance
    • Contribute to the development of the change management package and learning collaborative
    • Participate in and contribute to Alliance events
    • Contribute to Alliance and related publications
    • Engage respective professional communities in Alliance activities
    • Participation includes:
    – Bi-monthly or quarterly virtual meetings
    – Attendance at Alliance convenings whenever possible
    – Asynchronous contributions as outlined above

    Communications and Education Workgroup Member Role
    • Serve a 1-year renewable term
    • Support and facilitate the work of the Alliance
    • Focus on cross-cutting operational issues
    • Work with the Advisory Committee and Task Forces, as needed
    • Guide communication efforts
    • Contribute to development and dissemination of educational learnings
    • Participation includes:
    – Bi-monthly or quarterly virtual meetings
    – Attendance at Alliance convenings whenever possible
    – Asynchronous contributions as outlined above

    *Honoraria is available for Patient members of Alliance Leadership.

    The Encoding Equity team will review and consider all applications with the objective of engaging a diverse group of professionals in all aspects of Alliance Leadership.

    Advisory Committee applications will be considered based on the following criteria:
    – Relevant expertise: Deep knowledge in equity to provide strategic guidance.
    – Strong network and influence: Connections and reputation to engage stakeholders and build support for the Alliance.
    – Diverse perspectives: Variety of viewpoints aligned with task force focus areas
    – Experience with engagement initiatives, dissemination, and learning collaboratives
    – Publications: Widely published in peer reviewed journals, as applicable
    – Lived experience

    • September 3, 2024 or earlier – Candidate Notification

    • September 2024 – Initial Advisory Committee Meeting

    • October 2024 and beyond – Initial Task Force and Workgroup Meetings

    • Ongoing – Additional outreach to solicit expertise and engagement in Encoding Equity Leadership and activities.

    • July 2025 – Annual Call for Applications Opens
